PRESENTATION SKILLS: 3-Minute Thesis© Competition Practice

In this practical workshop, we will summarise the rules and requirements for the 3MT© competition, and provide you with helpful hints and tips for presenting your research in just 3 minutes.

To get the most out of this session, you must come prepared to present under the 3MT© competition conditions in order to receive supportive feedback and tips on how to improve. Those who have attended this training in the past have typically performed better in the competition, and all our overall competition winners have made full use of this training opportunity.

Key learning outcomes

By the end of this workshop, you will:

  • Have practiced delivering a short presentation in front of a small audience of peers.
  • Have received constructive feedback on your presentation style, your technique and your static slide (within the context of presenting in a 3MT® competition).
  • Be able to improve, where necessary, on aspects of your research presentation.
  • Have a better understanding of how to communicate meaningfully to non-specialist audiences.

 

Please bring a copy of your slide on a USB and be prepared to present at this session.
