Qualitative Research Methods: Researching Beneath the Surface - ‘Auto/biographical qualitative research'
Auto/Biography is concerned with ‘the myriad of everyday and frequently fleeting social practices concerned with the articulation of (often competing, sometimes discontinuous) notions of selves and lives’ (Stanley, 2000: 40).
The event will explore the use and impact of auto/biography in research, providing an opportunity to explore the associated research methods and considerations.

Participants must have interest in and some experience of qualitative methods and approaches (such as questionnaires, interviews, focus groups, ethnography, etc).

By the end of this session, participants will:
- Understand different ways in which auto/biography can form part of a qualitative research process
- Understand the challenges of data analysis and re-presentation in auto/biographical research
- Understand how auto/biography can be used to enhance qualitative research
