An introduction to statistical methods for postgraduate students (1) (A)

Conceptual aspects, or why you can't do science without statistics; Basics of statistical modelling (Normal statistics as the basis); Introduction to the principals and methods of regression; Sample size and power calculations; Basic comparison testing (z-test, t-test -> ANOVA) including underlying assumptions, and non-parametric alternatives; Very basic introduction to Bayesian techniques; Group discussion of conceptual examples.

Compulsory for all first year PGR students from College of Health & Life Sciences and optional for all other students from the College of Health & Life Sciences
