Qualitative Research Methods: Researching Beneath the Surface - ‘Auto/biographical accounts in qualitative research'
The event aims to explore the use and impact of auto/biography in research. It provides an opportunity to explore qualitative research methods with expert researchers. It comprises of lectures, workshops and a discussion forum for PGR students.

Participants must have some experience of qualitative methods and approaches (such as questionnaires, interviews, focus groups, ethnography, etc).

Key learning outcomes
By the end of this session, participants will:
- Understand different ways in which auto/biography can form part of a qualitative research process
- Understand the challenges of data analysis and re-presentation in auto/biographical research
- Understand how auto/biography can be used to enhance qualitative research
Session outline and aims
Participants will learn about ways of using auto/biography as part of qualitative research methodologies. Participants will increase their confidence and ability to work ethnographically in their research.
There will be presentations and small group parallel workshops run by qualitative researchers.
